Perception is a hard concept to wrap my head around. There are so many ways that perception has defined what life is for me. Everyone perceives life with a different tone; in other words, everyone judges and labels their life according to what they have been through, seen, done or heard in life. With that, we judge what we perceive on a daily basis. Whether we want to or not, the first impression is always going to be there when you meet or see someone. That doesn’t mean it will leave a 'mark' on you, but it will always be there. I am not one who typically judges people on purpose. Saying that I am a people-watcher though and I can’t help it. For those of you who do not know what that is, a people watcher is someone who gazes off and enjoys the presence of people in their natural habitats. It is actually quite entertaining. Ever sit down in the mall for a few minutes? Next time just watch what happens around you. One idea from the book I agree with is the linguistic relativity hypothesis. As professor says, it basically says that thoughts and behavior are determined by language. Language isn’t just what comes out of our mouth; language also comes from the body. Thinking about that, we do judge on the basis of language. The way fellow people talk to u will determine further friendship or not, same with body language. Body language says a lot when it comes to attitude. So think about what you do and say, you never know who is watching.
